The Spatial Data Infrastructure of Spain (Infraestructura de Datos Espaciales de Espaņa, IDEE) is an initiative to integrate data, metadata and geographical information produced in Spain into Internet, which provides to locate, identify and access to such information by its potential users.
The current National Website for the IDEE (http://www.idee.es), provides access to the Main Node of Distribution and Screening of Data and Geographical Services in Spain, should be launched with the nodes and websites of official geographical information under the theme of nature, and other equivalent websites that have been established in the Autonomous Communities. These nodes will in turn be complimented by other institutional, private or enterprise infrastructures to develop the authentic National Spatial Data Infrastructure of Spain.
In accordance with the initiative INSPIRE to develop Spatial Data Infrastructure in Europe, the Permanent Commission of National Geographic High Council (the State’s superior, consultative and planning body within the realms of cartography) in its meeting at 10 on April of 2002, has form a working group to study and coordination to establish Spatial Data Infrastructures of Spain (IDEE). The IDEE project is a initiative to incorporate all SDI national, regional and local official and SDI sectorial and private too.
